How to Reach

How to Reach Atmos Platinum Status

Atmos Platinum (80,000 status points) is the first oneworld Emerald tier. The threshold rose 5,000 from MVP Gold 75K. Most Platinum members combine heavy flying (~60,000 status miles) with the Summit card to bridge the rest.

The 80,000 status point goal

Atmos Platinum requires 80,000 status points in a calendar year. Status points reset every December 31, and the tier you earn applies through January 31 of the year after next — so 2026 status earning unlocks Platinum benefits for all of 2027 and into January 2028.

Three paths

Flying only: 80,000 flown miles under distance-based earning. The most predictable path for full-time business travelers.

Atmos Summit-only: The 10,000 SP anniversary boost cuts the goal to 70,000. At 1 SP per $2 spent, that requires roughly $140,000 of Summit spend per year. High but technically possible.

Hybrid (recommended): Combine moderate flying with the Summit card and any non-air partner activity (Lyft, Atmos Shopping, Atmos Dining, hotel partners). For most members, the hybrid path is by far the cheapest path to Platinum.

Use the calculator

Plug your real numbers into the Atmos Status Points Calculator to see how close you are to Platinum under any combination of flying, spend, and card. The calculator shows all three earning methods side-by-side so you can plan around whichever one wins for your travel pattern when choice-based earning launches.
